We still have 3 unbeaten teams left as Utah and UCLA won easily and Miami escaped late. It was another very good week for my plays. The leans went only 2 and 4 for a yearly total of 21-24-2. The plays which carry more weight went a very good 7 and 2 bringing the total for the year to a very profitable 32-20 -2. This week is the first week of the College Playoff Committee releases their rankings. It is going to be interesting to see where the 2 loss teams come in and how much does a teams strength of schedule really matter. There are still a lot of good football games left to be played. Strictly for entertainment purposes only, let’s see how many of those good match ups we have this week.
Saturday’s games may provide the best day of college football all year. We get 6 ranked on ranked match ups and 3 other ranked teams going on the road versus unranked opponents. First we have to get through the mid week games and this week starts the MacAction games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Here we go.
There are 2 games in The MAC tonight, but I only have information on one of them. Buffalo travels to Miami Ohio. The host Red Hawks are favored by -6 1/2. The home team is 7-1 straight up and against the spread. I will ride that and lean Miami -6 1/2. I have nothing on Ohio -13 1/2 at Akron. I will watch the election results instead.
Wednesday night gives us 3 more MAC games with solid stats and trends on 2 of them. I have nothing on Toledo going to new FBS school Sacramento State. The line is Toledo – 25 1/2 if you are interested. The other 2 games are where we look for some action. Ball State travels to UMass as a -3 point dog. Ball State is a dismal 2-22 straight up on the road and only 4-10 against the spread as a dog of 3 or less. The home team is 4-0 straight up and 3-1 against the spread in this series. I will hold my nose and lean UMass -3. The last MAC game of the week is where the information is the strongest. Central Michigan heads to Eastern Michigan. The home standing Eagles are a slight -1 1/2 point favorite. They are also 8-16 against the spread as a single digit home favorite including 0-2 this year. Central Michigan is 10-4-1 against the spread as a single digit dog including 1-1-1 this year. The Chippewas are also 10-0 against the spread off a bye the last 10 seasons. That is good enough for me to play Central Michigan +1 1/2.
Thursday night’s contest have an American Conference Game and a Sunbelt Conference Game. The UTSA Roadrunners travel to Florida Atlantic as a -7 point favorite. The Owls had a shoot out last week in their 41-48 loss at North Texas. That Over/Under was 76 1/2 and it went over easily. This week’s total is 73 1/2. Talk about defense optional??? UTSA is 7-2 against the spread off a bye, but the home team is 4-1 against the spread. Conflicting stats for sure. If Vegas is not afraid to put up a high Over/Under, you should not be afraid to play it. I just don’t know about 2 games that high scoring in consecutive weeks. UTSA also can play some defense. I may end up playing something, but my best advice is to pass. The Sunbelt game has James Madison going to Southern Miss as a -14 1/2 point favorite. I have nothing to share. I will just watch Thursday’s games.
