The first 3 days had been filled with many sights, scheduled outings, wonderful memories, and good food. This day was a chill and rest day relaxing and playing in the gulf and the pool. Darlene and I slept in a bit, got up and ate some pork left overs with our coffee. We put on on swim suits and literally walked 30 yards to the beach at our resort. Lime Tree Bay has brought in sand and made a nice beach area with chairs as well as shaded hammocks to enjoy.

The beach has a rock wall surrounding the twin beach areas, but has a level walk in access by their pier. The water is very clear and you can see the bottom easily. It drops to about 3 feet deep just the other side of the retaining wall.

The day was hot with only billowy clouds and a slight breeze coming off of the gulf. This made the temperature of the water warm but relaxing. It didn’t take long before you wanted the water a bit cooler. We stayed about an hour before moving to a shaded area. We put on tee shirts to prevent sunburn and got cold water from a cooler. Soon we moved 20 yards toward the room to one of 3 pools at Lime Tree. The pool was also warm but very refreshing sitting on a ledge that kept us about neck deep. There was a few people at the pool but it was not overly crowded.

We stayed a little while enjoying the pool and relaxing.
We went to the room to change and get a cool drink and a snack at the bar. We both got a tropical specialty drink and ordered a pretzel to share for a snack.

We headed back to the room to just chill. We watched some of the baseball college world series and maybe dozed a little. Since we had 2 teams from our home state in the final 8 of the series, we were somewhat interested. Darlene and I both like sports so that makes it even better.
We got ready for dinner and had decided to try Islamorada Fish Company. We drove the short 16 miles north on US 1. This restaurant was all outside seating but it was right on the gulf and had a nice breeze blowing in. We got an appetizer, The Wahoo Fish Dip. This was outstanding. For supper Darlene ordered the Crab Encrusted Grouper, while I opted for the Fish And Chips (Cobia Fish). The grouper was a little too spicy for Darlene, so we traded meals. Both were OK but the dip stole the evening.

The food was decent but the setting and ambience was better. We finished our meals as the sunset painted the evening sky over the Gulf of America.

We headed back to our room after a calm and chill day. After resting up, tomorrow we will start on our final 3 days with more scheduled outings. Check back in a day or two and hear about Pine Key as our trip to all of the Florida Keys continues.
