Darlene and I spent our last vacation day just chilling. We slept in after all the travel, had coffee in the room and lounged around.
We went downstairs to Brew Brothers and shared the pork nachos for brunch. They were very good.

We did not have any plans for the afternoon and nothing until dinner reservations at Wilde River Grill that evening. I went to the Blackjack Table and Darlene found a couple of gift shops within walking distance of the hotel. It was a relaxing and peaceful day.
We left for dinner and headed back the few miles to The Truckee Riverwalk. Wilde River Grill is on the river and a nice setting. We ordered an appetizer that was outstanding. It was seared Pork Belly with a Pistachio Reduction.

This was one of the best appetizers I have ever had. It was excellent. I could have ordered another one for my meal.
The meal itself was also good. Darlene got the Trout Almondine with asparagus and lemon butter white wine sauce over pasta. I opted for the Marinaded Flank Steak with creamy polenta and roasted brussel sprouts. It could have been cooked a little more for my taste but I ate around the center and had plenty to eat.

We topped the meal off with two coffees before heading back to The Silver Legacy.

We stopped for a few minutes at the casino before going upstairs to pack and prepare for the flight back to Alabama in the morning. This brought an end to another very memorable vacation.
I am sure we will make a couple of long weekend trips before the end of the year to places closer to home. We can also start talking about where we may want to go next year. Alaskan Cruise, Niagara Falls combined with part of Canada and Cooperstown, New York, or Boston and surrounding areas with all the history. Who knows what other interest may pop up. Until then, check back on this blog to see if I can remember some earlier vacations we took that may give you some ideas.
I also write a weekly blog on college football and give a few picks strictly for entertainment purposes. If you have any interest, check it out starting next week
